Obituary of Douglas Neil Vane

Douglas N. Vane, 75, of Brookfield, beloved husband of Gitta (Paetsch) Vane, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, August 13th.  He was born in Yonkers, New York on May 4, 1945, son of the late Louis and Mary (Corso) Vane.

Douglas was a Veteran who proudly served as an MP with the United States Army.

He retired as a sergeant from the Brookfield Police Department after 35 years of service.  He also served as Chief of the Candlewood Lake Patrol.

His happiest times were spent playing golf or vacationing with his family.  He enjoyed time with his many close friends, especially his lifelong friend, John Kermashek.

In addition to his cherished wife of 50 years, Gitta, he will be sadly missed by his four sons, Robert Lane and his wife, Fiona, Thomas Lane, Daniel Vane, and Neil Vane; his seven grandchildren, Amber, Nicholas, Louis, Sophia, Callie, Jamie and Sean; and his great grandson, Jaxson.

Services will be held privately.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
